Gucci Sues Merchant Account Providers

Monday, August 10, 2009   Topic: Merchant Account Providers   by System Admin

Gucci America sued several credit card companies for trademark infringement, alleging the merchant account providers facilitated the sales of counterfeit Gucci bags on the Internet.

Two of the companies named in the lawsuit are Frontline Processing Corp, Woodforest National Bank, and Durango Merchant Services LLC. The case also involves several unnamed companies as well.

Gucci America said in the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan that by processing transactions on counterfeits, the companies "not only supply the necessary marketplace for such transactions, they are full partners in those counterfeiting activities".
